Does Drill Music Promote Violence, Or Is It An Outlet?

The fastest rising rap genre in the world is drill music. With artists in Australia, UK and America making songs about violence, knife crime, gun crime, robberies and prison, but with a hard slapping instrumental to go with it, the music has people worldwide in a frenzy.

But is the music to blame for the increase in knife crime in the UK, or for promoting criminal activity worldwide? With the knife crime rate increasing 7% for 2018 to 2019 in the UK, which also coincides with the rising popularity of drill music, it is hard to wave away any links between the two.

But drill music also provides an outlet for poor youths, angry at the world, as well being able to create success for them. Drill music may even provide an escape for them, and turn them into a success.
