Should Police Be Blocking OneFour From Performing?

With the rise of Aussie hip hop, and OneFour being the ball runners of the Aussie drill game, it has caught the attention of hip hop heads around the nation, as well as the police. With the recent attempts by OneFour to perform being shut down by the police, it can be hard to question whether or not it’s the right thing to do. OneFour’s music paints a picture of stabbings, robbery and prison life. A grim picture for most, but for them a reality in their everyday lives. Is it fair for police to stop a group who is trying to leave this way of life through music, citing concerns about musically influenced violence? Will this not just keep them in that life of crime? Is it possible that this music may influence people to do crime, but how can they know until they have seen it themselves? One can only wonder.
