3 Ways To Pick A Hip-Hop Party Playlist

0

Being asked to set up the music for a party is a dubious honour. While you have the power to choose the music if you select the wrong music, people will turn against you very quickly and demand control of the sound system.

To avoid any conflict, and to avoid embarrassment, take a look at the following tips for picking a hip-hop party playlist.

1.   Find existing playlists

The easiest way to find a party playlist for hip-hop music is to search on YouTube or Spotify to find a pre-existing one someone else has already compiled. If the playlist is already popular, then there won’t be much room to criticise you for choosing it.

2.   Get a list of songs from the guestlist

A great way to make sure nobody is disappointed with the party playlist is to ask the guestlist what hip-hop songs they would like to hear. While not everyone will have tastes that agree with each other, this is the most diplomatic solution.

3.   Ask someone else to do it

If you are lost on what to do, then pass on the responsibility to someone else who is eager to be the DJ for the evening.

Rising talent TEMPO is a music producer you want to keep an eye on

0

TEMPO is a French music producer based in Ghana who has, impressively, educated himself on several different aspects of professional music production. Fed up with the uninspired repetitiveness of mainstream music, TEMPO decided that he wanted to make music he could enjoy and find meaning in.

Teaching yourself how to produce music from scratch is an incredibly difficult task, but TEMPO did it and has thrived ever since. Because of his success in teaching himself, he realised that he could help other independent artists realise their potential and establish themselves through his mentoring service.

Regarding his personal music career, TEMPO started off by self-promoting 4 instrumental tracks. While great listening material in of themselves, these tracks were also designed to attract collaborators, showing off what TEMPO was capable of. This has paid off, and TEMPO is now in discussion with a variety of artists on potential collaborations.

TEMPO’s first collaboration, ‘Self ft. Kubla Khan & Shelly Segal’, is a great vocal duet with a  strong backing track that really resonates emotionally. It’s a very impressive track when you consider that all 3 artists had to work remotely since they all live in different countries.

The track has already started gaining momentum of streaming platforms and has earnt TEMPO and even wider fanbase that is hungry for me. With more great collaborations in the pipeline, everyone should be eager for what comes next for this intrepid music producer.

What Happened To Australian Hard Dance Festival IQON?

0

Australia has long been home to a relatively small but passionate hard dance fanbase. This fanbase has loyally attended the Australia edition of famous Dutch festival DEFQON 1 for many years. Eventually, the loyalty of Australians was rewarded with a Q-Dance event of their own (Q-Dance being the company that creates DEFQON 1), and it was named IQON.

However, anyone who knows their hard dance history will recognise that IQON only occurred once in 2013 and never returned as promised. IQON was meant to be the start of a new Australian-exclusive hard dance festival – so what happened?

1.   Poor ticket sales

Ultimately, IQON underperformed in ticket sales. It is speculated that this was because many people wanted to go to the Australian DEFQON festival and could only afford a ticket to that event.

2.   Poor weather

On the day of IQON (mid-April), it was raining heavily, and this generally ruined the experience many people expected.

3.   Technical difficulties

There were a lot of technical issues for the festival, including a loss of music from Headhunterz set for over 10 minutes. Headhunterz was one of the biggest names on the line-up, so this loss of time from his set was not taken well by fans.

TEMPO analyses his career as a musician just starting out

0

TEMPO is a young music artist who has been making music for a few years now. During the time he has been producing music, he has been working hard to cultivate a unique and original sound that will help further his path to eventual stardom.

Having already earned many thousands of streams on his Spotify and building a considerable following on Instagram, TEMPO is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Due to his success so far, TEMPO has become widely recognised as a rising star in the music industry, and there’s no telling just for far his fame and fortune will go.

Despite his soaring success, TEMPO has taken some time to reflect on his progress so far. Taking a step back from the many demands on him in his music production schedule, TEMPO has begun to analyse his career as a musician who is still comparatively fresh on the scene compared to the many more established artists out there.

There’s no shortage of famous artists out there, and it’s easy to make comparisons. Reinventing the wheel is a difficult task but is something that TEMPO believes needs to be attempted in order to truly bring something new to the table as a music artist.

While he has developed a large following on social media, TEMPO knows that he can’t afford to become complacent and stop working hard every day. With all the struggles of being recognised and building a following in a crowded music scene, TEMPO has done an outstanding job so far, and it will be interesting to see what his next big moves are.

The last couple of months have been a very busy time for TEMPO, and there’s little doubt that his activity is going to increase even further in the near future.

Does Drill Music Promote Violence, Or Is It An Outlet?

0

The fastest rising rap genre in the world is drill music. With artists in Australia, UK and America making songs about violence, knife crime, gun crime, robberies and prison, but with a hard slapping instrumental to go with it, the music has people worldwide in a frenzy.

But is the music to blame for the increase in knife crime in the UK, or for promoting criminal activity worldwide? With the knife crime rate increasing 7% for 2018 to 2019 in the UK, which also coincides with the rising popularity of drill music, it is hard to wave away any links between the two.

But drill music also provides an outlet for poor youths, angry at the world, as well being able to create success for them. Drill music may even provide an escape for them, and turn them into a success.

Red Dirt

Yep, you read it correctly. “Red Dirt” is a type of country music, a particular class at that. Its name is derived from the colour of soil found in Oklahoma, where it originated. Fans of this subgenre describe it as like an indie genre of rock ‘n’ roll, mixed with folk, country and the blues.

Zydeco

Founded in southwest Louisiana, Zydeco is a type of music that meshes traditional blue sounds with indigenous music from the native people of Louisiana. It is a highly complicated genre of country, often dominated by a rapid tempo and the use of a “rub board.”

Gothabilly

Gothabilly is a combination of gothic rock and country. Gothabilly is arguably one of the most modern forms of country music, primarily because it arose during the early to mid-1990s. The famous punk-rock band, the Cramps, are commonly affiliated with this genre and psychobilly sounds. Many modern gothabilly bands originated in California.
