Counting Down The 3 Best Film Composers Of All Time

Ask any film or television director, and they’ll tell you how important a film’s sound is. The director’s choice of songs and style of the score can make or break a movie. The following 3 composers have proven time and time again that they are the best in the business.

#1 John Williams

The top spot couldn’t be anyone else but John Williams. It’s almost impossible to have not heard his name before. He’s the composer behind some of cinema’s most iconic and well-known scores including Star Wars, Schindler’s List, Jaws, Superman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Saving Private Ryan. He’s won 25 Grammy Awards and 5 Oscars across a career spanning 60 years.

#2 Hans Zimmer

Coming in at second place is Hans Zimmer. He’s been the creative genius behind music scores featured in The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator. He has collaborated with Christopher Nolan on many of his films including The Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar, Dunkirk and Inception.

#3 Danny Elfman

Danny Elfman is a formidable and highly respected film composer. Elfman has scored more than 16 of Tim Burton’s feature films (including Batman and Edward Scissorhands), along with Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, both directed by Sam Raimi.
