Awesome Female Hip Hop Artists That You Should Know

There are quite a number of female hip hop artists that are completely dominating the charts right now, and some have been for a while now. A lot of these female artists are so popular, you probably already know who they are, but just in case, you could be adding someone new to your rotation of favourite artists.

There are few and upcoming female artists that are starting to dominate the charts as well, it’s always good to have some fresh blood in the mix. It’s always a good idea to try some of the newer artists and see what they are about. There’s no greater feeling than that of finding a new artist that you just know you are going to fall in love with.

Kash Doll

While Kash Doll may not be as big of a name as Cardi B or Nicki Minaj at the moment, she was still nominated for best female hip hop artist along side them at the BET Awards in 2019. She has even opened for various big name artists including Beyoncé, Drake and Meek Mill.

One of her 2017 songs, For Everybody, took the world by storm and the music video now has over 30 million views. It was only the next year when Republic Records signed her to their label. She has dropped a couple of mixtapes with awesome tunes included, but fans are still waiting for a full-blown album.

 

Saweetie

She is another female hip hop artist that you should know and keep an eye on. Saweetie has done collaborations with some other pretty big names in the industry, including Quavo, Kehlani and Lil Wayne. Her track, Icy, managed to take a spot on the Billboard Hot 100. While she is certainly a newcomer in the industry, only just been signed to a label, big things are expected from her.

 

Lizzo

No list of awesome female hip hop artists to follow would be complete without Lizzo. Her songs help promote self love and care, and she is certainly a role model for girls right around the world that don’t necessarily have the typical body shape that the industry wants.

Lizzo is so much more then just a hip hop artist, she can pretty much do anything, so make sure you expect that from her songs! Her song, Good as Hell, was really able to connect and resonate with a lot of people right around the world and it made people stop and listen to what she has to say.

 

Megan Thee Stallion

Hip hop artist Megan Thee Stallion is making big waves in the industry at the moment. She was also nominated for best female hip hop artist at the BET Awards. Megan Thee Stallion makes good use of her online presence to get more people to take note of just how amazing she is. If you haven’t heard one of her songs yet, you are certainly missing out!

 

WondaGurl

You may not know who WondaGurl is, but she has certainly had some influence on songs and artists that you would have heard of. She has worked with the likes of Drake, Rihanna and Sza.

She even co-produced the song Crown on Jay-Z’s album Magna Carta Holy Grail, while she was still just a teenager. In 2018, she was added to Forbes’ 30 Under 30: Music list, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled to see what she does next.
