Early Life and Career
He was born in Scotland in 1984 and began making electronic music from a young age. Back in the days of MySpace, and Calvin Harris used this social media platform to share his music with more people. When he was just 22 he signed his first recording deal and things only got brighter from there.
In his early career, his first major hit was Acceptable In The 80s. The song was loved by many due to its awesome chorus and it made its way onto the UK charts and remained there for a couple of months. He was still building a name for himself, but this song really helped propel him into the limelight.
Mid-Career
During the 2010’s you would be hard-pressed not to find a top 25 songs chart without a song from Calvin Harris. The year 2010 was a particularly big year for him as he was nominated for a BRIT Award. Just two years later was certainly a year that Calvin Harris would never forget, he collaborated with Rihanna on the single We Found Love. This year he also won a Grammy and MTV Award.
Some of the other great projects he worked on in 2012 included; Let’s Go with Ne-Yo, We’ll Be Coming Back with Example and Sweet Nothing with Florence Welch. The next year another major hit came our way with I Need Your Love, which included the amazing Elle Goulding.
It was after this point that he first started branching out of just purely writing and performing music, he did an underwear campaign with Emporio Armani. He also dated Rita Ora as well as Taylor Swift for a while during this decade. In 2015, he was named Man of the Year at the GLAMOUR Awards and held the title of the highest-paid DJ in the world by Forbes.
Recent Projects
Calvin Harris has released a few singles recently, all to the liking of fans, and has jumped onto the top song charts right across the world. In more recent years he has worked with artists like Normani, Du Lipa, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Kehlani, Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man.
On July 16 he also dropped a new tune with the assistance of Steve Lacy called Live Without Your Love from his new album Love Regenerator. He is continuously making music, so fans will be happy to know that they will be able to hear something new from him soon.
